Item | # 0001859584 | Family | Terebridae | Name | Duplicaria bernardii - BIG; SUPERB , Deshayes, 1857 |
Size | 54.1 mm |
Locality | Australia |
Note | Three ultra-large and superb specimens of this endemic north-eastern Australian species. The largest of these specimens is either equal to, or ever so slightly exceeds the current official WRS, (by around 0.5 mm; verified at wrs-shells.com upon 12 June 2017). The current official WRS is a dead-collected, faded and badly damaged shell, whereas all specimens offered here are live-collected examples, (albeit with typical light natural flaws), exhibiting the rich bluish grey of living specimens. Definitely for the Terebridae specialist. Size: 54.1 mm (length of largest specimen). Grading: F+++. Data: Amity Point, Stradbroke Island, Queensland, Australia; upon mud/sand substrate at extreme low tide; 1990. |
