Item | # 0001883696 | Family | Terebridae | Name | Terebra pertusa - ULTRA-BIG; ULTRA-DARK , (Born, I. von, 1778) |
Size | 97.3 mm, w/o |
Locality | Philippines |
Note | An extremely large and spectacular specimen, exhibiting the richest colour I have ever observed in this species. Teleoconch aligned with central axis, with no unsightly deviation. Exceptional preservation of the apex. One tiny, typical growth irregularity upon an early whorl, but otherwise perfect. Operculum retained: rare in any Terebra species. In a different league to the majority of pertusa offered. The BEST of the best for the Terebridae specialist. Size: 97.3 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Off Nocnocan, Talibon, Bohol, Philippines; upon coarse coral sand substrate; 10-30 m; dived; May 2017. |
