Item | # 0001901550 | Family | Volutidae | Name | Amoria ellioti - IMMACULATE GEM SPECIMEN. , (Sowerby, G.B. II, 1864) |
Size | 83.3 mm |
Locality | Port Hedland, N.W. Australia. |
Note | An intriguing species of volute, that uses the outgoing tide rivulets to steam along the sand to find a bivalve or other food before returning under the sand. Unlike most volutes that crack the sand flats on incoming tides, the Amoria ellioti are rarely seen, maybe only 10% of specimens would be found on the incoming tide compared to the outgoing tide. On offer is a wonderful, IMMACULATE specimen in pattern, colour and quality. Intertidal in sand flat rivulets, Condon, North of Port Hedland, N.W. Australia. |
