Name | Brechites vaginiferus - Interesting !!! , Lamarck 1818 |
Size | 177 mm |
Locality | Port Hedland, WA. |
Note | Commonly known as the watering pot shell this weird animal starts off as a bivalves and morphs into this incredible being. They are found with the aperture just showing about the bottom and attach to rocks in muddy silt substrate. This specimen has a fine hair line crack in the base that does not detract from the appearance of the shell. This often occurs when the shell is removed from its habitat as they are offen jammed in among rocks and difficult to remove. |
