Size | 89.6 mm |
Locality | Australia |
Note | An ultra-large specimen, (just touching 90 mm), of the rarest colour form of this South-Eastern Australian endemic species. Obverse valve with rich ivory ground, traversed by broad radial ribs of caramel. Seldom offered, especially at this size. Extremely clean. There are very minimal predatory worm marks, but only upon the reverse valve, the obverse, (constituting the more beautiful, display valve), is completely free of such marks. Definitely for the Pectinidae specialist. Note: One valve is always slightly smaller in this species, and fits perfectly inside the other. Size: 89.6 mm (longest dimension). Grading: F+++. Data: Off Taylor Island, Spencer Gulf, South Australia, Australia; upon sand substrate; 40-60 m; dived; 1992. |
