R&C Pierson is a name that stands for New Caledonia seashells as a paradigm for the scientific and connoisseur collection, and conchologists from all over the world lucky enough to have been invited to see his unique collection and handle his treasures remember these pieces as some of the finest ever collected. Here I present one of them, a truly magnificent rossiniana of large size and perfect zig zag pattern preserved in the finest condition one can imagine, very mature with revoluted margin and superbly glossy peach color aperture, very heavy and thick lip which is untouched and perfect of course, with an equally splendid siphonal canal and related fascioles, with a fully preserved and glossy protoconch and a body grown to absolute perfection without any irregularity much less a growthline. A beauty of extreme rarity, and a famous classic among seashells, from a world famous collection this is one of the most desirable pieces in my collection. |
