Item | # 0001933374 |
Family | Volutidae |
Name | Amoria exoptanda - LARGE, EXTENDED SPIRE. , (Reeve, L.A., 1849) |
Size | 108.0 mm |
Locality | Port Lincoln, South Aust. |
Note | A wonderful LARGE specimen at 108mm. As no commercial shell divers now operate in the South Australian fishery, species like Amoria exoptanda are scarsely taken. Hence this is a rare offering today. The specimen is graded GEM- in condition although it would be absolutely a GEM specimen if not for a very soft growth crease on columellar side of dorsum (difficult to see). It has a wonderful extended spire. Diver collected in 20M to 30M at night, on sand near rocks, Port Lincoln, South Australia. |
