Item | # 0001934127 |
Family | Cypraeidae |
Name | Umbilia hesitata - AMAZING DARK SPECIMEN. , Iredale, 1916 |
Size | 97.0 mm |
Locality | Tasmania. |
Note | At 97mm this distinct rusty/red coloured Umbilia hestiata is a great size. Also exhibiting lovely rostrate canals and extreme weight, typical of these Bass Strait dark specimens. Particularly uncommon in any condition. This specimen is well above average condition with a small finger nail area of fine nacre windows, a nacre chip low on columellar side near posterior canal and a small raised inclusion on the labral margin. These faults do not show when dorsally presented and do not detract from such a great specimen in colour and shape. |
