Note | Volutoconus grossi browni is a particularly RARE subspecies of grossi. Often overlooked in collections, but the most distinguishing feature is the axial ribs evident in the top protoconch body swirls compared to grossi. This specimen represents wonderfully well with good colour and gloss, although dead taken with a few borer markings inside the lip and on the underside. Trawled in 60M. off Lodestone Reef, North Queensland. Provenance of coming from the Bass Strait Shell Museum. |
