Item | # 0001942294 | Family | Nassariidae | Name | Nassarius conoidalis - BIG; OUTSTANDING , (Deshayes, in BĂ©langer, 1832) |
Size | 27 mm |
Locality | Australia |
Note | A true miniature jewel, and, in my opinion, one of the two most beautiful of all the Nassariidae, especially when seen like this. Indescribable subtle colours: peach, pink, blue, lavender and ivory. Absolute perfection, with full preservation of all apertural spines and pin-point protoconch. The locality whence the specimen comes was very recently declared a National Park and handed back to the Wuthathi people, so no further specimens will be available. The BEST of the best. For the Nassariidae specialist, or admirer of exquisite seashells. Size: 27 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Shelburne Bay, Shelburne, Cape York Peninsula, Queensland, Australia; upon coarse coral sand substrate; 33 m; dredged; 1993. |
