Item | # 0001968937 | Family | Cypraeidae | Name | Zoila rosselli - RARE ABROLHOS IS. FORM. , (Cotton, 1948} |
Size | 59.4 mm |
Locality | Abrolhos Is, Central W, Aust. |
Note | Truly the very best form of all the rosselli complex, one I call rosselli f. abrolhosensis for the obvious reason coming from the Abrolhos Islands, Central West Australia. Its stunning characteristics of extreme base flaring, amazing wave like shape base edges from its side elivations and finally its great size, mostly near the 60mm mark, make it the most appealing form. This specimen is no exception being 59.4mm. A form that is few in numbers, particularly uncommon and so RARE in any reasonable quality. This specimen I grade FINE++ with four single layer nacre chips on the dorsum, that have similar colour underneath, so not too prominent and some typical nacre windows and a few inclusions on the base. Presentation is still wonderful, and rarely are they offers, so this is a very unique opportunity for a great shell. Diver collected in 38M. on small geodia sponge, low reef, Abrolhos Islands, Central West Australia, 2016. Kept by the diver in his own collection until now. |
