Family | Architectonicidae |
Name | Heliacus stramineus mortensenae - BIG; OUTSTANDING , Iredale, 1957 |
Size | 32.7 mm |
Locality | Australia |
Note | A large and superb specimen. Completely clean, with no substrate discoloration or erosion. Ultra-fine spiral sculpture clearly discernible. Typical minor trawl fraying at the outer apertural lip. Iredale named the deep-water Queensland form of this species mortensenae, but there is little evidence to warrant subspecific separation. An exquisite shell when seen like this. Size: 32.7 mm (length). Grading: F+++. Data: Off Cape Moreton, Queensland, Australia; upon sand substrate; 60-120 m; trawled; 1982. |
