| Note | near Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park, Zanzibar, on reef in shallow water, live taken specimen shell. You may find nice looking specimens in the shell trade, but there is actually nothing comparable available if you go for quality and color; this is a super mature specimen with a 30mm wide lip and of a terrific smoked salmon color. In addition the shell is uniquely preserved in GEM quality, all nacre is absolutely flawless, no scratch no grains, and the body and dorsum is equally superb, again absolutely clean and brilliantly patterned and well sculptured with prominent knobs and fantastic detail. Magnificent quality and a brilliant display piece, all natural condition, no filing which is quite miraculous and extremely rare to find. Due to its maturity, this is a very heavy shell 764g!!!! |
