NoteEXTRA SPECIAL SALE: This is an extra special sale comprised entirely of exceptional specimens drawn from my private collection, being sold to benefit arts philanthropy, as I am moving in a new collecting direction. These specimens represent innumerable upgrades and highlights of my collecting and dealing career, and in many cases are the finest examples of the species which have ever passed through my hands. Please enjoy this opportunity to acquire many outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. AMORIA UNDULATA ANGASI: The absolute zenith of expression for the angasi form, and the BEST specimen I have ever seen. The specimen was collected by the late Peter Clarkson, and was regarded by him as the BEST specimen he ever found. With its pure, pinkish white ground, and undulating axial lines of caramel, the South Australian angasi form represents the most exquisite incarnation of this endemic South-Eastern Australian species. Extremely big size for the angasi form. Hypermature, with markedly thickened, ‘rolled’ and glossed outer apertural lip, and great weight to size ratio. Pattern formed with supreme regularity. Undoubtedly one of the finest known specimens, and literally a ‘one in a hundred’ example. (Note: No original Clarkson label accompanies the specimen.) Size: 96.5 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Point Bolingbroke, Eyre Peninsula, South Australia, Australia; upon sand substrate; 8.1 m; dived; February 1988. Provenance: 1. Peter Clarkson collection; Port Lincoln, South Australia, Australia; 1998; 2. JES private collection; Melbourne/London.
