AMORIA MACULATA: The partner to a specimen sold in a recent auction, and the only other specimen I have of this beautiful pale colour form. Spiral bands of nebulous purplish caramel dashes across an ivory ground, with pure white apertural interior. Perfect, mature, completely natural outer apertural lip. Solid and heavy for size. Size: 70.6 mm (length). Grading: F++++. Data: Off Cape Moreton, Queensland, Australia; upon sand substrate; 60-120 m; trawled; 1982. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
