Note | EXTRA SPECIAL SALE - PART 2: Part two of my extra special sale comprised entirely of exceptional specimens from my private collection, representing highlights of my collecting and dealing career. Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. SEMICASSIS SINUOSUM ANGUSTATUM: The largest and BEST specimen I have ever seen of the beautiful angustatum form of this endemic southern Australian species, and of precisely equal size to the current official WRS, (information verified at wrs-shells.com on 15 July 2018). The current specimen is, however, superior in quality to the WRS specimen, being absolute perfection throughout. Expansive clouds of copper-ochre upon a pinkish white ground. Extremely difficult to obtain now at any size, coming only from old collections. Definitely for the Cassidae specialist or WRS collector. Size: 30.6 mm (length). Grading: Gem; w/o. Data: Off Esperance, Western Australia, Australia; upon coarse sand/rubble substrate, at night; 28 m; dived; 1994. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
