Note | EXTRA SPECIAL SALE - PART 2: Part two of my extra special sale comprised entirely of exceptional specimens from my private collection, representing highlights of my collecting and dealing career. Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. ZOILA DECIPIENS SUPRASINUM: A truly outstanding example of the enormous, ultra-heavy Delambre Island variety. Massive, eludens-like form, illustrating a definite link with that species. Great weight to size ratio, created by extreme marginal and ventral callosity. Superb overall proportions, with marked convexity to ventrum. Spectacular dorsal pattern in ultra-rich colours. Exceedingly sought after by Zoila connoisseurs here in Australia, and now a very high value shell. Size: 58.2 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Off northern coast of Delambre Island, Dampier Archipelago, Western Australia, Australia; upon sand substrate; 18 m; dived; 1990. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
