Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. CYMBIOLENA MAGNIFICA: One of the BEST specimens I have ever seen of the ultra-rare ‘white’, or ‘patternless’ form of this endemic eastern Australian species. In reality, the form is neither white, nor patternless, with the pattern being reduced to an ultra-nebulous incarnation, and the colour being indescribably beautiful: ultra-pale lavender, pink, peach and cinnamon, with creamy yellow-orange apertural interior. Outer apertural lip very lightly smoothed, and nothing but a couple of minor, insignificant typical growth disruptions, in no way detracting from the impressive nature of this ultra-rare and exceptionally beautiful shell. Size: 190 mm (length). Grading: F+++. Data: Off Tweed Heads, New South Wales, Australia; upon sand/mud substrate; 80-100 m; trawled; 1982. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
