Note | EXTRA SPECIAL SALE - PART 3: Part three of my extra special sales comprised entirely of exceptional specimens from my private collection, representing highlights of my collecting and dealing career. Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. COLUMBARIUM HARRISAE: Apart from being an exceptional large example of this deep-water, endemic Queensland species, the current specimen exhibits atypically rich straw and caramel accents to the interstices of peripheral spines. Exceptional overall level of preservation, with oversize protoconch intact. Ultra-clean with no coralline encrustation. Discovered during the legendary 1980s Queensland trawls, and now obtainable only from old collections. A specimen for the connoisseur. Size: 104.9 mm (length). Grading: F++++. Data: Off Lady Musgrave Island, Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, Australia; upon mud/sand/rubble substrate; 60-120 m; trawled; 1982. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
