Note | EXTRA SPECIAL SALE - PART 4: Part four of my extra special sales comprised entirely of exceptional specimens from my private collection, representing highlights of my collecting and dealing career. Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. CYMBIOLACCA COMPLEXA: More than any other member of the genus, complexa are prone to serious growth damage, especially when attaining giant size. The current specimen is one of the very few examples I have ever seen without such major damage. With very minor natural irregularities only, this is an exemplary giant of this deep-water, trawled endemic Queensland species. Superb colour and pattern. Collected during the legendary 1980s Queensland trawls, and now obtainable only from old collections. Size: 95.6 mm (length). Grading: F+++. Data: Off Cape Moreton, Queensland, Australia; upon sand substrate; 80-140 m; trawled; 1981. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
