Note | EXTRA SPECIAL SALE - PART 7: Part seven of my current extra special sales comprised entirely of exceptional specimens from my private collection, representing highlights of my collecting and dealing career. Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. TONNA TANKERVILLEI: Almost invariably with substantial trawl damage to the outer apertural lip, upon account of its delicate shell, the current specimen has a perfect lip, with every minute crenulation intact, and only the smallest extent of trawl fraying to the siphonal canal. Superb colour and pattern. Markedly globose form. Size: 111 mm (length). Grading: F+++. Data: Off Caloundra, Queensland, Australia; upon sand substrate; 80-120m; trawled; 1980. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
