| Note | No words for this item. Never seen. An amazing ultrarare and difficoult to obtain specie, barely known to science and to the human eye, a real mistery of the Mediterranean depths. A very interesting characteristic of this specie is the heteropsia, wich means they have eyes of very different sizes, and evolutionary adaptation that allows this creatures to look down to the bottom (dark side, big eye) searching for prey, while they look upwards (smaller aye) to avoid being surprised by predators in the depths. If you are interested in this kind of specimens, you know what this is about. Intact flippers and tentacle veil exceptionaly preserved. Accidentaly captured by fishermen at -500 m. deep in mud bottoms, Murcia, Spain. 2019.400 mm. with extended tentacles. You can see the specimen freshly found (left photo) and after fixed in etanol (rigth photo). Specimen fixed in etanol 98%, will be sent in hermetic box with cotton moistened in etanol 98%, once arrived, specimen should be preserved again in etanol 70-98%. |
