Item | # 0002202521 | Family | Volutidae | Name | Amoria damonii keatsiana - HUGE SPECIMEN. , (Gray, J.E., 1864) |
Size | 127.0 mm |
Locality | Timor Sea, Darwin, N.Territory. |
Note | Although dead taken with some lip chipping, this MONSTER damoni keatsiana was never particularly dark and was always quite pale with a very open pattern. Interestingly the reason I say this is that there is little erosion, a little dullness and there is still some lustre on the shell. As like the small, regular dark coloured marking around the top of the main body swirl, if the main body was dark, then I would think some of it would still be present. Having been trawled in 139M. and somewhat light weight for its size, then possibly its pale colour is not entirely due to it being dead. Trawled in 139M. in the Timor Sea off Darwin, Northern Territory. |
