Item | # 0002204745 |
Family | Cypraeidae |
Name | Zoila venusta f. shoal cape form. - RARE SHOAL CAPE COLOUR |
Size | 69.1 mm |
Locality | Shoal Cape, S.W. Australia. |
Note | A really attractive specimen with a beautiful ginger/red coloured dorsal markings with soft gold markings spasmodically over the dorsum. The canals are saddled with a lovely mauve colour. This colour form is quite unique to this population. The only reference to this population is in "AUSTRALIA'S SPECTACULAR COWRIES" page 268. This Shoal Cape population is rare today and typical specimens normally have silting on the dorsum, due to the high energy region they live in. This specimen is no exception but a little better than the average specimen in quality. Graded FINE++ still with fine nacre inclusions over the dorsum, but a little less obvious than normal specimens and a soft growth line below the rich ginger/red marking on the labral dorsum . Diver taken in 8M. on reef ledge, Shoal Cape, S.W.Australia. |
