| Note | A magnificent ultra-large specimen of an elongate northern form of this endemic eastern Australian species, exhibiting atypically ovate whorls, rich colour, and a beautiful pattern. The highest possible quality for this usually very rough, deep-water species, with PERFECT, fully mature outer apertural lip and siphonal canal. Few specimens of northern sowerbyi attain this level of quality and beauty. Size: 186 mm (length). Grading: F++++. Data: Off Eden, South Coast Region, New South Wales, Australia; upon mud/sand/detritus substrate; 100-250 m; trawled; 1987. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
