Note | An outstanding ultra-large specimen from the ‘old days’ of collecting. Sporadic accents of rich caramel across a pinkish cinnamon ground. A couple of typical fine lines. PERFECT outer apertural lip; siphonal canal, (often damaged during the dredging process); and apex, with protoconch intact. Very difficult to obtain at this size and quality now, coming principally from old collections. Size: 74.8 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Off Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico; upon mud/sand substrate; 30 m; dredged; 1973. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
