Note | The LARGEST and BEST crassa of the JES Collection, this enormous specimen, from the ‘old days’ of collecting, is atypically colourful, exhibiting a magnificent pattern, including two distinct spiral bands of large chocolate-chestnut maculations. Delicate pink apex intact. Hypermature, with markedly thickened shell walls, solidity, and great weight to size ratio. A very special crassa for the connoisseur. Size: 51.3 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Malindi Bay, Malindi, Kenya; upon reef substrate, under coral slab; 4-6 m; dived; 1984. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
