One specimen of the rare endemic species Bostryx atacamensis. Most Bostryx species in Chile live at a narrow coastal band which receives fog from the sea (Camanchaca) and which has some vegetation; it is the only suitable habitat for these snails in the very arid northern part of the country. Bostryx species in Chile are restricted to small distributions, and some of them are prone to extinction due to urbanistic development. An interesting natural history item.
