| Note | An EXCEPTIONAL ultra-large specimen of the classic Great Australian Bight form, of markedly spherical form – the form sought by the connoisseur. Few armeniaca exhibit such proportions. Exquisite subtle colours. Superb dorsal pattern, with distinct mantle line. Fine++++ grading only upon account of a couple of tiny, negligible, typical inclusions – otherwise, (and essentially), ‘Gem’. Not freshly collected for over two decades, and now obtainable only from choice old collections. A special armeniaca for the Umbilia connoisseur. Data: Great Australian Bight, off Ceduna, South Australia, Australia; upon sand substrate; 140-150 m; 1999. Size: 95.2 mm. Grading: Fine++++. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
