| Note | An OUTSTANDING very large specimen of a particularly beautiful form, from the ‘old days’ of deep diving. Graceful overall form, with markedly upturned, recurved anterior canal. Ultra-rich colour: large, free-form, coalescent, ultra-dark chestnut dorsal maculae, across a golden honey ground; spectacular margins; ultra-dark espresso ventrum. Solid and heavy for a vercoi – not unlike insulata. Data: Starvation Bay, Esperance, Western Australia, Australia; upon reef substrate, upon sponge; 42 m; dived; 1998. Size: 84.2 mm. Grading: Fine++++. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
