| Note | An EXCEPTIONAL ultra-large specimen of the JAPANESE form of this EXTREMELY RARE, and very seldom offered extreme deep-water species. The ONLY specimen of the JES Collection, and one of the finest examples I have ever encountered. The Japanese form is extremely difficult to obtain, and has not been freshly collected for decades, with specimens coming only from the choicest old collections. Definitely for the advanced Ovulidae specialist, or connoisseur of rare and exquisite seashells. Data: Tosa-wan, Kochi Prefecture, Shikoku, Japan; upon sand substrate; 270 m; trawled; 1982. Size: 27.2 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
