| Name | Hydatina physis - QUEENSLAND; RARE QUALITY , Linnaeus, 1758 |
| Size | 36.5 mm |
| Locality | Australia |
| Note | The most beautiful specimen I have ever encountered, and of the uncommon QUEENSLAND form. Atypically rich colour: varying shades of caramel, across an ivory ground, with bluish and chocolate registers to edge of apertural interior. Multitudinous fine spiral lines perfectly formed. Perfect apertural lip, extremely rare in this species. A truly exquisite seashell, and, in actuality, quite rare like this. Family: Hydatinidae. Data: Moreton Bay, off Dunwich, Queensland, Australia; upon sand substrate; 6-8 m; dredged; 1978. Size: 36.5 mm. Grading: Fine++++. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
