| Note | A UNIQUE large specimen, exhibiting a highly unusual colour and pattern: deep yellowish cream ground, with sporadic regions of greyish purple, overlaid with milky greenish buff; and decorated with multitudinous, coalescent chestnut maculae – the dorsum entire having the appearance of dusky moss agate. Hypermature: ultra-solid and heavy; slightly rostrate. The specimen was formerly in the famous Carlos Leobrera collection, (Carfel Seashell Museum), and the original 1980s Carfel label accompanies the specimen. Data: Off Dakar, Senegal; upon sand/mud substrate; 35 m; dredged; 1983. Size: 72.1 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: 1) Carlos Leobrera, Manila; JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
