| Note | This truly ‘superb’ specimen lives up to its epithet, exhibiting an atypically beautiful colour – not the dark, brick red of typical examples, but a vibrant vermilion, in combination with yellowish cream, and with pale pinkish lavender towards the umbos. Valves loose – not glued – very important to the connoisseur. An incredibly beautiful pecten. Data: Off Punta Engano, Mactan, Cebu, Philippines; 10-20 m; dived; 1994. Size: 54.2 mm. Grading: Gem.
