| Note | Ultra heavy gem specimen with milky tan "Smiley Face Dorsum" and porcelain white base. In the Augusta area we find two forms of andreyi with distinctly different basal coloration. The first having a apricot orange base and the other with porcelain white aperture trim and base. I am of the opinion that this is the result of mixing of a south coast population (clarksoni) with a west coast population (andreyi as described) with a porcelain white bases. This shell was ROV collected from 238 metres of water south of Augusta. It is very heavy and mature. GEM. |
