Note | I have no idea why this, Chicoreus ramosus, appears to be yellow.. I did soak it in bleach, and the colour remained the same..Therefore the colour was not dyed or tampered with. A few expert's I asked said it could be a "Golden Form Chicoreus" I doubt this as the inner lip is not smooth., therefore dead when collected Another collector said it could be a semi fossil. More logic on this...But whatever has cause the shell to be yellow, would be a nice specimen to collect..NOTE: There also a Harpago chiragra, at the Murex page, that was collected at the very same spot. Pattern on the inner lip appears to be similar, as well as the yellow. Different species BUT the similar pattern and colour, in the inner lip. Indeed a Mystery that need's an explation. Any comments very welcome. Thanks in advance. |
