Note | One of the LARGEST and BEST fulgetrum of the JES collection, this outstanding GIANT of this endemic southern Australian species exhibits a bold pattern of broad axial zigzags, formed with rare regularity, to striking aesthetic effect. Rare quality for such advanced size and age, with PERFECT outer apertural lip and siphonal canal. Most collectors will not appreciate how difficult it is to obtain a specimen of this size and quality. Creamy orange apertural interior. Now obtainable only from choice old collections. A truly magnificent giant fulgetrum for the Volutidae specialist, or collector of giant sized shells. Size: 164.3 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Off Point Bolingbroke, Eyre Peninsula, South Australia, Australia; upon sand substrate; 8-10 m; dived; 2003. Provenance: JES private collection, Melbourne/London. |
