Aequipecten ventricosus - MAGNIFICENT COLOUR FORM , Sowerby II, 1842
Size
55.2 mm
Locality
Mexico
Note
I was able to acquire a superb assemblage of striking colour forms of this species during the very 'old days' of Mexican availability. The four specimens offered here were hand-selected from amongst many hundred for their uncommon colours, and exemplary quality for this usually very rough, trawled species. All recently re-cleaned by myself, and appearing as fresh as if collected this year. An opportunity for the pecten specialist, or admirer of beautifully coloured shells. Size: 55.2 mm (longest dimension). Grading: Gem. Data: Off Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico; upon sand/mud substrate; 40-80 m; trawled; 1974. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London.
