| Note | With the advent of the new trawl net escape openings in the Great Australian Bight Trawler Fishery, designed to reduce the by-catch, few cowries are collected today. In particular is the large specimens of Umbilia armeniaca which are rarely offered today. Here I have a high quality, MONSTER specimen at 108.3mm. IMAGES SAY IT ALL. Super inflated, wonderfully mature, heavy specimen exhibiting beautiful soft orange and yellow coloured dorsum. Exhibiting some coarse facetting over the dorsum. SPECTACULAR to say the else, and would be the shining light in any umbilia collection. NOT TO BE MISSED. Understandably I have used the extra images that shellauction offer to convey the features as best I can and of course with these extra images comes the requested E200 starting price, which I would not consider parting with this specimen for anything less. Graded GEM- with one small, raised dump on the columellar margin being overly fussy. An amazing mature specimen with the weight of a brick in hand. Trawled in 120M, off Port Lincoln, South Australia. A standout specimen for all collections. ALL WHITE REFLECTIONS AND DULL AREAS ARE FROM THE CAMERA LIGHTING. |
