Acar pusilla RARE Image Not Available8 mm Caldera, northern Chile 5,26 € |
|
Item | # 0002951440 |
Family | BIVALVIA |
Name | Acar pusilla - RARE , (G. B. Sowerby I, 1833) |
Size | 8 mm |
Locality | Caldera, northern Chile |
Note | One very nice (F+/F++) specimen of Acar pusilla, the only arcid species found in Chile (only in part of northern Chile), and one of the smallest bivalves found in the area. This specimen is selected and particularly nice: most often these specimens are covered with calcareous algae or very eroded, as they live among stones in the lower intertidal/subtidal.
This is a rare species, only found in a few protected areas, and this specimen features all the nice sculpture on the shell, being a very nice example for the species. |
