Note | Tonicia calbucensis is a rare species of Chiton found in Chilean waters. Previously this species was named Tonicia elegans, as it has a very nice dorsum with well-colored and variegated plates and sometimes a variegated and spotted mantle. This particular large specimen was collected by fishermen working with large algae, and it is preserved flat with the animal dry. The dorsum is in perfect condition and the entire specimen was treated with alcohol before drying.
This is your opportunity to obtain a very interesting and rare species of chiton from Chile. |
