| Note | This it as far east towards the Great Australian Bight that we have found a venusta.
In deep water off the south coast we find venusta that are very different from their shallow water counterparts. We refer to them as deep water south coast venusta given they do not have a form name.
This shell was found in April 2022 crawling on
sand among sponges in 85 metres of water south
Israelite Bay to the east of Esperance. It is heavy and has more pronounced siphons than
specimens dive collected in shallow water around the Esperance Islands.
Large heavy shell with rich gold dorsum and siphon trim. Graded Fine++ due dorsal growth irregularity. |
