| Note | ROSTRATED POINTY-TOP......Very impressive, undeniably, and most unique south coaster in my collection. And the last! Time now for someone else to enjoy. Easily surpassing the magic 60mm threshold, and hugely rostrate, this exquisitely shaped stunner casts a spell with its tapering uniformity: note particularly the elevated dorsum (pointy-top), quite formidable, steeply descending to both the posterior and anterior. A small white window, perfectly located central dorsum at the apex, adds a finishing touch. Bulbous. Hyper-mature. Heavy, like a house-brick. A unique, visually stunning, rosselli more typical of specimens from Bernier Island. A dimple to the columellar side, plainly from early in life, entirely smooth (nothing like ugly striae) and what I've always considered a feature rather than imperfection. Unreservedly gem otherwise. As mentioned, this is my last south coaster and that should send all the right signals. A very special pointy-top the likes of which you will probably not see again. Seems almost criminal but F+++ for the discerning collector. Provenance: from my own collection. Taken on sponge on limestone reef; 20m; South Coast of Western Australia.
