| Locality | CelestĂșn, Yucatan, Mexico |
| Note | This is probably the best specimen I have had available of this rarely-offered species, it combines a big size with an overall good condition for this typically rough species, as well as a nice light shade of orange combined with white in the background. It has a fairly nice dorsum, with only one discreet scar in the upper left corner, and a smaller one near the siphonal canal. The lip is way better than in most specimens, conserving the original rounded shape, while having very little roughness. The most noticeable flaw to the lip is in the lower area, near the siphonal canal, as can be seen in the pictures, though this is not big. The spire is very well preserved, with the protoconch still preserved as well.
It was found freshly dead, while snorkeling at about 50cm deep, on a sandy bottom with lots of shell rubble. |
