| Note | Large and striking pyriform representative of this attractive Hawaiian endemic cowrie. The shell shows a perfect deep luster nacre on the brightly red/brownhued dorsum, flawless extremities and base. Excellent distribution of white lacunae on the dark red hued dorsum and characteristic black spotting on the lateral wall and margins. Taken by scuba diver on night dive off Kaena Point, Oahu, Hawaii on a drop off under coral ledges feeding on red sponges and algae at 12 meters. Grade: GEM. |
