| Note | Moderately sized and beautiful example of this deep water New Zealand volute. The fusiform shell is solid with a large array of notable shoulder nodules, thick lip and impressive axial sculpture. The specimen shows profound and complex axial banding and disperse body whorl reticulate patterns between the woven banding patterns. Heavy for it's size, perfect protoconch and spire present. The specimen was live trawled in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand on the 90's at 80-100meters.There is present some roughness on the anterior lip by finger touch. Grade: F+++/GEM. |
