Item | # 0003187216 |
Family | Conidae |
Name | Conus delessertii - UNCOMMON , Récluz 1843 |
Size | 55.7 mm |
Locality | Cape Canaveral, Florida |
Note | Hard to find uncommon cone with remarkable body whorl patterns and honey/orange banding. Even rarer to find these cones in gem condition, which this one is not. However, the color hues remain strong for an older specimen. The delessertii was trawled 30-35 meters on a muddy sand bottom off Cape Canaveral, Florida in the 60's. The specimen exhibits a semi-nicked protoconch, growth fold on the ventral body whorl and shallow chipping on the lip with a larger chip on anterior lip advancing to the siphonal notch. Grade: F++. |
