Note | Solid subspecies example from the southern zone of the thalamega range. The shell has good weight, sharp contoured extremities and faint spotting. It displays a marvelous and distinctive dorsal pattern, brilliant nacre gloss, with a gleaming black/brown base with well-developed aperture teeth. The specimen was taken from a spirastrella sponge nested on a smaller reef by a Scuba diver at 44 meters off Kalbarri, Western Australia. The specimen displays a subnacre blemish mid-dorsum and micro sand inclusions on both ramps. Also present is a chip on the posterior extremity, inside the labral channel and a self-repaired mico-nick on the superior portion of the posterior columellar extremity (arrows). Grade: F++. |
