| Note | Heavy like a stone, convex base, calloused margins with a black veil over the dorsal mottled pattern and reddish primary hues characterize this rare specimen. Nearly total black specimen, with perfect base extremities, subtle dorsal line and significant thick nacre with enviable gloss are admirable characteristics. Captured by Scuba diver off Weld island, Western Australia at 30-35 meters.The shell exhibits a subnacre mid-dorsal scratch (arrow), labral side and glazed algae frosting on both extremities, highlighted by the white glossed over algae spot at the bottom of the anterior ramp (arrow). NOTE: Subnacre glazed-over algae growth and altered coloration is not considered a defective feature for grading purposes. Grade: F+++. |
