Size | 25.2 mm |
Locality | Prony Bay, New Caledonia |
Note | Strong yellow hued low profile and rostrate money cowrie from the Eastern Pacific. The marvelous thick margins, perfect extremities, thick glossy nacre and low structural profile make this superb specimen unique and highly collectable. Heavy for its size, the moneta features many desirable attributes including rostration, super thick margins and perfect extremities.. NOTE: The images do not clearly show the deeper subnacre green color fringing the dorsum (dome) or the translucency of the margins due to the heavy yellow overlying coat. Taken by Scuba diver at night off Prony Bay, New Caledonia at 2-3 meters among sponges an anemones in 2012. Grade: GEM. |
